FYI Only – Advise from the Blue Mountains …

FYI Only – Advise from the Blue Mountains City Council in regards to a Prescribed Burn around Lawson Rd, Springwood. Please share with anyone in the area. Smoke will be visible from this burn.

Prescribed Burn – Proposed Date: Thursday 19 May 2016
Location: Lawson Road, Springwood

Subject to favourable weather conditions, Fire & Rescue NSW intend to carry out fuel management burning in the above location this week.

This burn will result in the generation of smoke, ash and embers that have the potential to affect both the immediate locality and other areas of the City. As such, anyone seeing smoke over or around this area in coming days should not be alarmed. As always though, if you can see flames without a fire crew in attendance do not hesitate to call triple zero (000) immediately.

Burns like these are part of a carefully planned bushfire fuel management program designed to assist with the protection of lives, property and the environment from intense wildfires. These burns will not stop bushfires from occurring but can assist fire fighters with property protection and containment strategies.

For more information about prescribed burning and what you can do to better prepare your own property for bushfire season, visit the RFS website.

Any enquiries about this activity can be directed to the Blue Mountains District Office of the Rural Fire Service on 4784 7444.

Please feel free to forward this information.
