The BOM has issued a Severe Thunderstorm warning for the area. Mainly for Damaging winds. Remember to call the SES for assistance or 000 for life threatening emergencies.
It specifically says Katoomba but going on what the wind is like In Glenbrook id say the whole mountains.

Winmalee Rural Fire Brigade added 5 new photos.
A few photos from the 1600hrs call out. Wednesday will be hot so better to deal with these logs now. A bit of lateral thinking has us dragging the burning logs into the creek rather than carry heavy knapsacks to the logs. It was hot, dirty & thirsty work but a good job in the end. Most of these types of smouldering log call outs are well within burnt areas, but we have to make sure. Well done crew.
Deb, Deb……we all love chocolate cake. Although we are on call by pager 24/7, the Station is usually only open for training, admin, new members, etc on Tuesday evenings from 7.30pm and Saturday afternoons from 1.30pm. Any other times I can give you about 120 addresses. Lol

At 1600hrs today Winmalee 1A, Winmalee Pumper Bravo, Winmalee PC, Rescue Pumper 445, police and police rescue responded to reports of smoke along singles ridge road. Crews found a large area of logs burning well within burnt ground. Crews from Winmalee spent 3 hours blacking out the area and making it safe.
The tree in question was a very large tree which had been burning inside until the top of the tree eventually fell off and started to burn within the burnt ground. It is unlikely that this was the result of anything other than nature.

Correct Aidan. A number of these bigger trees are also starting to fall causing small fires to start within burnt area on days like today.

Today Winmalee was once again paged to burning trees within the previous burnt area. Crew were on scene for 2 hours making the area safe.
Correct Melissa some trees are still smouldering inside.

Today Winmalee 1 Alpha, Winmalee 7 and RP445 responded to reports of Bush Alight in the gully behind Ellison Rd, Springwood. Crews attended and found a large tree alight in previous burnt ground. Crews extinguished the tree.
