Come on down to Winmalee Tavern this afternoon. Matt Bowman, a member of Winmalee RFB, will be having his hair and beard shaved off at 3pm to raise money for “Shave for a cure”. We hope you can make it down there to support Matt.

The owners of this car were awoken at 1am this morning to find that their car had been overturned in their driveway in Leichardt street Blackheath. The car is destroyed and this young family is looking for answers. If anyone can shed light on this cowardly act please contact Blue Mountains police surely someone knows something

The boys & girls from Capital Smart at Seven Hills played host to a crew from Winmalee Brigade this afternoon. One of many Suncorp minor body damage repair shops around the nation they were keen to show us around, put on a BBQ and handed over a generous donation collected by their employees Australia wide. The Seven Hills operation repairs over 130 cars per week and none take more than 3 days from drive in to drive out. A very impressive company with a dedicated team.

In return the Winmalee crew put on a water delivery display giving the employees a chance to hold one of our hoses while at maximum output. We also demonstrated the tanker protection system and fielded many questions relating to our activities.

All in all a great afternoon and we thank Capital Smart for their hospitality and generosity.

There is currently. A large grass fire burning in the Penrith area. The smoke column is visible from Winmalee, Yellow Rock and Hawkesbury Heights. This fire is at Watch and Act. Winmalee 1A and RP445 have patrolled The Yellow Rock area and confirmed nothing around that area. Please Share.

The NSW Rural Fire Service is seeking your assistance with research relating to the October 2013 bush fires.

The NSW RFS has engaged the Bushfire Cooperative Research Centre to carry out community research, which is looking at how people in the affected areas prepared for the threat of fire, and how they responded.

The research is focusing on areas including the Blue Mountains, Port Stephens and Southern Highlands.

The information gathered will help in compiling a report for the NSW RFS, to assist with improving community safety programs.

Today Winmalee Pumper and RP445 responded to a oil spill located on Hawkesbury Bends. Crews were in attendance for 45 minutes making the area safe.
