A short time ago, Winmalee 1A, 1B and RP445 responded to bush alight, at Lalour Drive, Springwood. Crews extinguished a small area of bush alight and have returned to station.

Please be careful when emptying out your open fireplace or slow combustion heater. The coals stay quite hot for some time and can ignite surrounding grass and bush long afterwards. Place the coals and other residue in a safe cleared area and damp down with your hose. Check regularly and do not leave them hot overnight. Do not put them in your ottoman bin even if you think they are cold. Be warm and be safe this winter.

Yesterday and Friday Winmalee RFB responded to numerous fire calls, including a pile burn, bush alight and good intent calls. We have noticed it is very dry outside and fires can spread quickly during this time.

Had a fun morning at Emu Plains at the Oz Kick Carnival for 6 to 8 yo kids playing AFL. With 16 Clubs attending there was lots of interest in the Winmalee and Regentville RFS fire trucks. The Emu Plains Lions Football Club was one of our donors following the 2013 Fires and it was a great opportunity to repay their generosity. Thanks again Sean and well done to the Club.
Last night Winmalee 1A was responded to a tree down across a driveway in Patersons Rd, Springwood. Crews were in attendance for a short time removing the tree.

A short time ago Winmalee 1A and RP445 responded to reports of a grass fire of Purvines Rd, Yellow Rock. Crews have investigated and found a small mulch fire. The fire has been extinguished and all vehicles are returning to respective stations.
