The NSW RFS has a new website that is aimed at addressing the risk that communities may face during a bush fire and how individuals within the community can act to plan and prepare for bush fires.
The website address is – www.MyFirePlan.com.au.
When accessing this site it needs to be used through a Google Chrome Browser and allows the viewer to enter their postcode and review the information provided.
Please share with family and friends.
With the bushfire season approaching, now is a good time to check on your level of insurance coverage. Around 80% of property owners affected by the 2013 bushfires were under-insured, adding considerable stress to their already terrible situation.
The NSW and federal Governments are funding three seminars in the Blue Mountains in coming weeks to help homeowners with insurance questions.
Another great few weeks working with the Cadets at St Columba’s College. Following the guidelines of the Basic Firefighters Course the cadets have learnt to roll out canvas hose, fit nozzles, direct water steams and return all equipment to the fire truck. Lessons have included casualty assistance, the use of hand held fireground radios and exposure to other local emergency services. While fire fighting is a serious business, cadets and facilitators alike are having fun and the Year 10 students don’t mind getting wet. And, NO, you can’t order pizza over the fireground radio. !!!
