Members of Winmalee Rural Fire Brigade undertaking the Breathing apparatus support course (BAS). This will help increase their understanding of what our compressed air breathing apparatus (CABA) fire fighters do when involved in a structural fire.

While at Katoomba on Tuesday we had the opportunity to watch the air crane Ichabod in action dropping fire retardant on the Cliff Drive fire. We will post a few videos shortly.

A few pics of the trail work completed on Tuesday following the trail marking completed by Winmalee the day before. With the assistance of a few other brigades and some brilliant heavy machines, an increased level of protection has been provided for residents in areas close to the Cliff Drive fire last Saturday. A good effort by everyone involved.

Winmalee Rural Fire Brigade added 6 new photos.

Winmalee 1 Alpha returned to Katoomba today and was tasked with surveying possible strategic lines to protect homes in a number of streets in the fire affected area. The same crew will return Tuesday to work with heavy equipment following the lines blazed today. One of our members also assisted the RAFT (Remote Area Fire Team) working from the floor of the Megalong Valley. A good days work.

Winmalee 1 Alpha and crew have returned from the fire at Katoomba. Winmalee 1 Alpha will return early tomorrow Morning to the fire, with a fresh crew.

At 0115 this morning Winmalee pumper and rescue pump 445 responded to a bin alight on Whitecross road. Upon investigation a salvation army bin was alight in coles carpark. Crews extinguished the fire.

Crews from Winmalee have now been stood down for the night. Winmalee will be back on the fire line tomorrow morning.

A large bush fire is burning around the Cahill lookout area in Katoomba. There is an emergency warning in place for this fire. Winmalee 1A and 1B with numerous other fire appliances are on scene.
